How it works
Heating mats
Thin mats with the heating cable already spaced out, laid under tiles in bathrooms and square rooms. They are quick to lay and give even heat.
Loose heating cable
Cable laid by hand for irregular rooms, around vanities and in corners where a mat will not fit.
Thermostats and timers
A wall thermostat reads a sensor in the floor and runs the heating to a schedule, so the floor is warm when you want it and off when you do not.
Planning the job
Timing with your tiler
The heating goes down after the floor is prepared and before the tiles. We coordinate with your tiler or builder so the job runs in order.
Testing
We test the heating cable before it is covered and again after tiling. A cable damaged during tiling is much easier to deal with if it is found early.
Circuit
Underfloor heating runs on its own circuit with safety switch protection. We check your switchboard has room for it when we quote.
Common questions
Can underfloor heating go under timber or carpet?
Some systems are made for floating timber and other floor types. Tiles and stone are the most common and work best.
Is it expensive to run?
Running cost depends on the heated area, the hours it runs and your power tariff. A timer and a well-insulated floor keep it down.
Can you add it to an existing bathroom?
Only when the tiles are coming up. It is best planned as part of a renovation.
