Signs your home needs rewiring
Old rubber or fabric-covered cable
Common in homes built before the 1960s. The insulation crumbles when disturbed and exposes live conductors.
Ceramic fuses
Rewireable fuses and no safety switches usually mean the wiring is as old as the board.
Frequent faults
Lights flickering across rooms, breakers tripping or power points that stop working can point to failing cable.
Scorching or burning smells
Discoloured power points, hot switch plates or a burning smell need an electrician straight away.
A major renovation

How a rewire works
Inspection and quote
We inspect the wiring and switchboard, find out how you use the house, and give you a written quote for a full or partial rewire.
Running new cable
New cable runs through the roof space and under the floor wherever possible, which keeps wall patching to a minimum.
Switchboard and safety switches
Most rewires include a new switchboard with circuit breakers and safety switch protection on every circuit.
Testing and certificate
Every circuit is tested before we hand over, and you receive the compliance certificate for the work.
Common questions
Can we stay in the house during a rewire?
Often, yes. We work circuit by circuit and plan the power-off periods with you.
Do you need to open up walls?
Some access is needed, but running cable through the roof and subfloor keeps it small. We point out any patching in the quote.
Is a partial rewire worth it?
It can be, if the problem wiring is limited to part of the house. The inspection tells us which way to go.
