A bathroom without a working exhaust fan grows mould on the ceiling and around the shower. A noisy or weak fan usually means a worn motor or a blocked or undersized duct, and both can be fixed.

Exhaust fans
Bathroom and ensuite fans
Ceiling or wall fans sized for the room, including quiet models and fan and light combinations.
Laundry and toilet fans
Smaller fans on their own switch or wired to run with the light.
Timers and humidity sensors
A run-on timer keeps the fan going after you leave the room. A humidity sensor switches it on when the room gets steamy and off when the air has cleared.
Replacing old fans
We replace noisy, slow or dead fans, and fix the ducting while we are up there if that is part of the problem.
Rangehoods
Ducted rangehoods
Ducted units push air outside and remove steam, smoke and cooking smells properly. We run the duct through the roof or an outside wall.
Recirculating rangehoods
Where ducting is not possible, such as in many apartments, a recirculating unit filters the air through charcoal filters and returns it to the kitchen.
Power and replacement
Rangehoods need a power point, usually inside the cupboard above. We add one if it is missing and swap old rangehoods for new ones.
Ducting to outside
For new homes, the National Construction Code requires exhaust from bathrooms, laundries and kitchens to be ducted to outside air rather than into the roof space. It is also the right way to do it in an existing home, and we duct outside wherever the roof allows.
Common questions
Why is my bathroom still steamy with the fan on?
The fan may be too small for the room, the duct may be blocked or crushed, or it may be venting into the roof space. We can check all three.
Can you install a fan where there is none?
Yes. We cut in the fan, run power from the nearest suitable circuit, fit a switch and duct it outside.
Can you connect a new rangehood to my existing duct?
Usually, if the duct is the right size and in good condition. We check it when we quote.
